The Texas State Fair 2011

Yesterday we went to the fair. It was Caden's first time to go and he loved it! We had so much fun doing different events with him. We decided to ride the dart for the first time because they drop you off at the front and it was much cheaper. Caden really liked riding it because he didn't have to sit in his car seat and got to look out the window the whole time. That was so much easier than trying to find parking and definitely much cheaper.  When we got there we stopped by the water fountains because Caden was so interested in them.

After we were done with the water fountains we headed straight to the food! I haven't been to the fair in a couple of years, so I was excited to get my hands on a Fletchers Corn Dog. Caden was so entertained by everything going on around him. He had his first Fletchers Corn Dog and was so excited to get to hold it himself.

We also had a funnel cake which Caden also loved!

Yep he loved it!

Dada's big bite! Caden thought this was hilarious.
Mama's little bite.

After eating we took Caden to meet Big Tex. All he could do is point and say "the" (sounds like tha) and "gah" These words are what he normally uses to express something. He liked looking at the pretty flowers.

Next we headed over to see the Dog show. Caden enjoyed seeing the dogs do tricks. He laughed and pointed at the dogs each time they did something funny. He loved clapping for them.

After the dog show we stopped to let Caden look at the baby animals. We somehow missed the petting zoo.

Next we headed over to this really cool thing they have for young children. They get to act like they are on a farm and feed animals and pick fruit and veggies. They give you a little apron to put on and hand you a basket. It was the cutest things seeing Caden in the mini apron and holding his little basket. He did very well for his age at listening to instructions but still got distracted by neat things along the way. His favorite part of the whole thing was digging a hole to plant his seed. He loved getting to dig a hole himself with his little shovel. He also loved riding on the little tractor. At the end he got paid when he sold his items to the general store and was able to pick one free item out of the general store. Caden chose Grandma's cookie package that contained two cookies.

They had these cute things where you stick your head in them. Caden thought it was funny and liked sticking his head through the holes. He even stuck a head and a hand through one of them.

Love this one!

Big Tex!
After we were done we headed to find the famous fried peaches and crème that I have wanted to try but the line is always so long. I forgot to take a picture but it was good! It didn't look how I pictured it in my head but it exceeded my expectations on taste. Caden also loved them. Right after we were done eating, Caden decided to take a nap so Casey and I headed to the car show. We just bought a new car so it felt nice to sit in the other cars just to look but know I have a new car waiting on me when we leave. We got to sit in a real race car. The way they look on the inside is so crazy and bare. I didn't even know they had door handles until Casey opened it. I just assumed you had to hop through the window lol. I wish Caden would have been awake to get in there, but I wasn't about to wake him up because he was sleeping good.

After Caden woke up we took him to see the ferris wheel and to the greenhouse to decorate a little pumpkin. Caden really enjoyed picking out his pumpkin and coloring it. He liked looking at all the flowers and trains they had in the greenhouse.

Our very last thing we did was test drive a couple of cars because you got free stuff if you did. I got to test drive the new Camaro and some other small car and Casey drove the Camaro, Volt, and another small car. The Camaro wasn't as comfortable feeling as I thought it would be. It felt kind of bulky. All in all I was more happy to have my Equinox. Caden also got to test drive a mini pedal car with flames. He also got to play a little baseball for the first time. He actually hit the ball all by himself!

It was sad to see a good day come to an end but we were ready to eat dinner and had already done everything. We were there about 7 hours but it went by fast. We decided to eat Spaghetti Warehouse and it was good! I always love the bread and garlic butter. I really look forward to next year when Caden is a year older and ready for new adventures. He will be doing basically the same thing again, but he will understand things better and probably be more excited. I wish everyday could be like that day!
