Christmas 2011
I was sad to see Christmas come and go so fast! This year was a very busy holiday season and it just went by way too fast. If you know me, I would put up my tree at the first of November if I could. I was so excited to see Caden's reaction this year since his first Christmas he was a little baby. He surprised me at how good he was about leaving the tree alone, although there were lots of pointing and touching of his favorite ornaments and candy canes. He helped us decorate and put the tree together this year. He really liked the colorful lights on the tree. He really surprised me when he left the presents under the tree for a week without unwrapping them. I just had it built up in my head that there would be lots of no's this year, but I was very impressed at how good he did. Making Jesus the main part of the holiday season is a must for us. Caden is still too young to fully understand everything, but he has a little nativity set and does know who Baby Jesus is & loves carrying him around. That's a start!
We tried doing as many special things this year as we could. Our biggest thing was DisneyWorld and that was the best present I could have ever asked for, other than God and my family. Christmas Eve we spent the day making sugar cookies and watching Christmas movies. Later on we went out to eat at Texas Roadhouse and went to our Christmas Eve service at church. After service we got hot chocolate and drove around looking at Christmas lights. It was so fun spending that time with my little family. We even let Caden break the law a little in a neighborhood looking at lights. He was more than excited to do that and pointed and made noises at all the lights.
The next morning was Christmas Day! We all woke up to unwrap some presents and watch Christmas movies. Caden was excited to unwrap each and every present of his. I figured he would get bored and I would end up unwrapping them for him, but he did it himself! He got books, some little toys, a t-ball set, weebles, cars, a puppy that talks and teaches you things, a US Map that talks, a tool set, a Winnie the Pooh back pack and cup, a big boy snowman cup and some pajamas. He got many other presents from family too. He loves his farm house and animals. Casey got me a lot of thoughtful things like body wash, lotions, clothes, comfy house shoes, and some more. I was so impressed at how hard he thought about what he got me. Casey got some pajamas, pants, a personalized calendar with our pictures, a Christmas Vacations tree ornament, and the King of Queens dvd set.
We ate a big feast for lunch which was a whole chicken, mashed potatoes, stuffing, green beans, rolls, and a pie. We ate light that night for dinner! After we ate we did some cookie decorating, which Caden loved because he would do a little decorating and immediately eat the cookie. We spent most of the afternoon decorating and watching Christmas movies. Later on we let Caden play with his new toys while watching some more Christmas movies. We had such a great Christmas! I can't wait to see what next years Christmas will bring us. Merry Christmas!
