The morning of September 19th I woke up and I didn't know I would be meeting my sweet little boy. We got up, went to church, & did the normal things we do on Sundays. The evening of the 19th I decided we should go to the hospital because you weren't being as active as you normally were. We didn't pack anything because daddy thought it was going to be another false alarm. When we arrived at the hospital they hooked me up to all the monitors and the waiting game began. The Sunday night football theme came on the tv. After drinking nearly a whole pitcher of water and waiting more than an hour the nurse came in and said let's get this baby delivered! The nurse said the doctor didn't like the fact that you weren't moving. You actually weren't due until the 26th of September so you were just going to come a little early. I was so happy and overjoyed that I would be meeting you soon. Daddy on the other hand was so nervous! He kept asking the nurse if you were going to be ok since you were coming a week early. They kept reassuring him you would be, but that didn't stop him from worrying!
They wheeled me up to the delivery floor and noticed I had a temperature so they decided to give me some iv fluids before they stated the pitocin to induce me. After I was all hooked up to the monitors and iv daddy got ready to leave to get all of our things. I made a list of everything to get. He left at about 9:45p.m. They went ahead and started the pitocin at 10:30. The contractions started to pick up and daddy shortly arrived. He forgot one of the most important things. The video camera and camera! He thought he got it and then was worrying he left it in the elevator. I assured him he probably just left it at home since he was so nervous, so he set out on another trip home at about 11:15p.m. By now the contractions had picked up a bunch but I stuck it out and waited. When daddy got back we tried to get some sleep. At about 2:30a.m. I decided to get an epidural because I had contractions every 2 minutes and nobody was getting any sleep. Thank goodness I did! It took away all the pain and we actually got some sleep. The epidural made my legs feel all warm and cozy but if I thought about it hard enough I could move mu leg. Throughout the night the nurse checked me to see the progress I was making dilating. Also they put an oxygen mask on me and flipped me to my side because you needed more oxygen. By 6:30a.m. on the 20th I was an 7. The nurse decided to get the doctor to break my water. Within 15 min. I was already a 9 and my water broke on it's own. By 7:30a.m I was already a 10 and instructed to not do anything until Dr. Luck got there. When Dr. Luck arrived I started pushing at 9a.m. During the middle of it I had to have an oxygen mask because you were loosing oxygen.
You didn't want to come out. When I would push most of your head out, you would go back in. Dr. Luck and the nurses said you were hanging on by your toes! At 9:34a.m. on September 20, 2010 you were born. You weighed 7lbs. 13oz. and 20 1/2 inches long. You were so beautiful I didn't know what to think. I was so happy to finally see you. After daddy cut your umbilical cord you were taken to the warmer to get cleaned up and fingerprinted. After they were done with you daddy brought you to me all bundled up and we got to stay with you for an hour before they took you to the nursery to get a bath and shots. Daddy followed you and watched you get a bath. I stayed in the room and rested until they wheeled me up to recovery and brought you back to me. I was so sleepy but even more excited to see you. I think I drank a gallon of water after I delivered you because I wasn't allowed anything to drink the night before. Overall I had a great birth experience and couldn't have imagined anything better. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. You slept a lot in the hospital and we got to know you better. Before we came to the hospital we were a family of 2. When we left the hospital on September 21st and headed home, we were a family of 3. I love you Caden Bradley Garza!
